Philanthropists Who Care About the Future of Our Community

The William Quarton Heritage Society recognizes and honors those individuals who have made permanent gifts to the Greater Cedar Rapids Community Foundation. Like Mr. Quarton, these philanthropists are helping our community prepare for whatever challenges or opportunities tomorrow may bring. Donors can become members of the society by establishing an endowed fund or naming the Community Foundation as a beneficiary in a will, charitable remainder trust, charitable gift annuity, life insurance policy or retirement fund.

In 2007, longtime Cedar Rapids resident and local radio and television pioneer, William B. Quarton, passed away and left a $35 million planned gift to the Community Foundation. This gift, like much of Mr. Quarton’s philanthropy, was meant to equip our community to meet the needs of the future. He has left an enduring legacy for our community.
